Former Cancer Patients’ Grateful Thanks For Care
Monday 3rd March 2014

Two Rhyl women who survived breast cancer have thanked staff at the North Wales Cancer Centre at Glan Clwyd Hospital for the ‘wonderful’ care they received by raising £7,290.

Karen Lewis and Carol Rodwell, who have both received treatment for Breast Cancer at the Cancer Centre in the past two years, raised the money through a recent Charity Party at Rhyl Golf Club, which was supported by match funding from Barclays Bank.

The money, donated through North Wales NHS Charity Awyr Las – will specifically benefit patients receiving treatment at the North Wales Cancer Centre, while a donation was also made to the charity ‘Breast Cancer Care’.

 Karen said:

“Carol and I can’t put into words how grateful we are for the wonderful care we received at the Cancer Centre. The fundraiser was a lot of fun and a really nice way for us to give something back”

Pat Pilkington from the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre thanked the ladies for their fundraising efforts, she added:

“Donations made to the Cancer Centre through our charity Awyr Las help fund a range of items and experiences for patients with cancer that go above and beyond what the NHS provides, such as complementary therapies, bespoke headwear, art therapies and new medical equipment for the Centre.”
