North Wales Guitar Circle/Cylch Gitar Gogledd Cymru recently held an “Evening of Guitar” Concert at the Anglesey Arms Hotel. The audience enjoyed a range of solo, duet and ensemble performances by members, including classical, jazz and gypsy jazz, folk, blues and flamenco.
The event celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the founding of the North Wales Guitar Circle, entry was free, however the audience and members generously donated money towards raising funds for Prysor Ward, the Acute Stroke Unit in Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Founder Jane Sinnett, explained: “Two of our members have connections with the stroke unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd, and also my own Father suffered his first stroke 22 years ago. In February of this year, if it wasn’t for the prompt intervention of his local hospital and support from the Stroke Unit in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, the outcome may have been a lot worse.
I think it is important that all Stroke Units have recognition for the fantastic work they do for their patients.
It gives me great pleasure that from my passion for guitar, which my parents supported since I was nine years old, and from other friends who share the same passion, we are able to give a little something back to such a deserved area of health care – The Stroke Unit – something close to my heart.”
The total raised was £251.83 which will go towards purchasing essential equipment.
Thanks go to all who participated and contributed, and especially to the Anglesey Arms Hotel for donating the room hire fee.
