The North Wales NHS charity Awyr Las have been announced as the charity partners of Snowdon Marathon, voted the UK’s toughest marathon.
Places for the marathon are highly sought after, with entry for the 2015 race selling out just days 48 hours after going on sale. However, a limited number of places have been made available to anyone who would like to take part in the grueling challenge and raise money for local cancer patients at the same time.
To secure a place in the marathon, we ask that runners commit to raising a minimum sponsorship of £300.
The money raised will support the NHS charity’s ‘By Your Side’ campaign, which will help ensure that cancer patients on Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Alaw Unit have the best experience possible, from diagnosis to post treatment care.
Kirsty Thomson, Head of Fundraising at Awyr Las said:
“We are so grateful to everyone involved in the Snowdonia Marathon for choosing to support Awyr Las. Last year Snowdonia runners raised over £3,000 for people on the Alaw Cancer Unit. The money raised this year will help fund much needed improvements which will be taking place on Alaw over the next year through . We know these places can make a huge difference to the lives of people with cancer and their families in the region.”
